TPR course details

What

ACTERA members are invited to attend a TPR (temperature, pulse and respiration) course on Sunday 2 November at 10am. Local vet, Steve Roberts, will present the course, which will take around 3 hours and will include morning tea and lunch.

Why

The rules of endurance riding place a huge emphasis on recovery heart rates of horses. If a horse fails to meet the official cut-off recovery heart rate limit it is eliminated from the competition. Endurance horse owners and riders should therefore be well educated in using recovery heart rate to monitor the fitness and well-being of their horse.

Where

The course will be held at 'Eastfields', which is off Woolcara Lane, about 20 km off Captains Flat Road. Directions will be provided closer to the date for people who have registered to attend.

There are some yards available for those people wanting to bring horses. For those interested, there may be an informal ride at the completion of the course.

How much?

Course: $15.
TPR manual by Dr Chris Walker: $35 (for those who don't already have a copy).
